About Me

I am a writer and investigative journalist born and raised in East Tennessee, right outside the Smoky Mountains. I work in multi-media formats, and topically span all human-rights adjacent issues. My documentary on queer culture in Appalachia was shown at the American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs, CA, in 2024. I conducted investigative work on criminal justice, resulting in doubled inmate pay in Dane County, with the Wisconsin State Journal; I was also an integral member of their team covering the Republican National Convention. I am currently covering the Democratic National Convention for The Chicago Reporter.

EPICENTER OF AN OVERDOSE is my capstone project for my Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University, where I have specialized in Social Justice & Solutions Journalism, and secondarily in Media Law.

My prose, primarily narrative nonfiction, is penned in a lyrical style and explores elements of the transgressive. My inspirations include Mary Oliver, Anaïs Nin, Sally Rooney, Amal El-Mohtar and Nawal El Saadawi. My writing has been recognized by Charlotte Lit, Scholastic, Writers of the Future, The Write Launch, Flash Fiction North, and more.

A proud auntie and aspiring tattoo artist, I currently live in Chicago with my black cat, Ted (pictured to the left).
